remember the pictures from my house and garden meme? I posted several photos from my Brother Cadfael roses. This plant is about 10 years old. The blooms are never overwhelming plentiful, but I get a steady stream of soft pink roses all summer



Last weekend, Chris was over getting photoshop tutoring for a project she was making for her sister's birthday, and she looked out the kitchen window and said, "Wow! Your roses are beautiful, and covered in blossoms!"

"Which roses?" I asked, and she replied
"The dark burgundy ones."

Hmmmm. now that was a poser, because I don't have any roses that could even be called red. I have two kinds of white, the Caeds, a yellow, a pink and yellow and the Oranges and Lemons.


So, out to the front porch, and there are my Caeds - dripping with dark burgundy roses.




Have my bees been taking the brown acid?

they were a serendipitious discovery at the nursery while I was looking for yellows (I am still in search of a pale yellow that takes off for me, but I have fallen for the yellow orange combination in the meanwhile.

I think Caedfael would like the idea of a rose named after him, and they are lovely, a soft pink/purple blush.
