Wheel of the Year

With the birth of my son, I learned to see the wheel of the year in a way that had never held meaning for me before.
Spring passed in a blur, almost unappreciated in the headlong rush to summer – long, warm, languid days of strength and fruition, easily beguiling me to think of them as endless. Autumn brought us closer to the fire and each other, sharing wine and laughter.
Born in a time of always autumn, I had never learned to look toward winter as a time of regeneration and rebirth.
Nor did I understand how quickly winter comes…
