Title: Smile
Word Count: 100
Team: Dunedain
Characters: Boromir - Faramir
I don't write slash. *fileg hides her head under her wing* It's just an innocent game...
For the teaching challenge at lotr100
(self reverential in that it is meant to reference my story The First Time)

edit: reposted here from the defunct [livejournal.com profile] lotr100

Smile

“Cheer up, little brother,” Boromir put down two tankards of ale and slid one over. “You look like you have never smiled in your life, and I happen to know you do know how - I was the one who taught you.”

Tired grey eyes looked up. “You will have to teach me again. What did you do?”

I would sing you the song about the sparrows, tickle your feet... and if you were very sad - I would lean over your cot and…

Boromir leaned across the small space between them and brushed his lips lightly against his brothers.

Faramir smiled.

It´s official: I´m collecting all your drabbles, putting them in order and taking them to be printed and bound. My very own Fileg book ;-).

I will drive you crazy, then, because I am spastic in time even in my regular life.

So far, I think Tuors two are the earliest... hmmm, or maybe that Maglor.... or do you not need the poncy elves?

you are much too good for my writing ego...

Oh, I´m ordering them thematically... I´m not one for strict chronology in these matters *g*.
I can stand Elves so long as it´s you writing them. You know that.

Tay, I think it's lovely. I can read it as brotherly love, pure and simple. I also found and read The First Time. :-)

I also have a question - how does one go about getting involved with the LotR 100? I know the challenges are posted on Tuesdays and run for a week, but how do you pick a team? I notice you listed Dunadain while some simply list Men, Hobbits or Elves.

*I'm still trying to find my way around the place, and get lost every so often.* ;-)

I don't think it has to be any more slashy than the spot in the interviews where Viggo kisses Bernard Hill out of high spirits and to make him laugh. But there is sort of a betting pool out here, I think, to see how long it will take for me to try some sort of slash. I enjoy the game of pushing as far as I can without breaking quite through the envelope...

I asked poor [livejournal.com profile] cruisedirector about six thousand questions the first few weeks I was here. And I asked exactly the same questions about the LOTR100

There are several communities for drabbling and challenges, but I just seem to like this one best. I think it's the folks who write here (though it would not hurt me to pick up another one to try it. And I really do want to post what I have been writing here back to HASA)

The community has changed fromthe weay it was originally set up - I believe the moderator wandered away.

Every week or so, someone (usually Cruise) posts a challenge theme. You post it to the community - (you need to join the community as a posting member, yell if you need help) Originally, I believe people picked a team and at the end of the week whichever team had posted the most stories won. We don't pay any attention to that anymore, so after a couple of weeks I deserted team *man* and made up my own team Dunedain - kind of like my scout troop. SOme people pick a different team for their drabbles depending on mood or content of the story. It seems to be just for fun now.

You can also post a drabble that is off theme, or one from an older theme - just mention in your notes.

The LPTR100 is not strict about the 100 word mark, but most of us try for a multiple of 50 and stay as low as we can. My New Years resolution was only to post 100's - but that's for the discipline of the exercise. I will still post the ones I can't cut down into my own journal.

C'mon out and play - you could start Team Rohirrim

*SNORK* How'd you know that was what I had in mind? :-D

Thanks for answering my questions. I wondered about the teams after I noticed a drabble about Aragorn and Elrond posted under the listing of Team: Hobbit. *Hi, nic!*

I did sign on at LOTR100, so now all I need to figure out is what the new challenge is (or is it still about "teaching"?) and where and how to post anything I might manage to come up with. :-p

still teaching, so far...

Are you using a client or posting at the site? Either way, there should be a field that asks which journal you are posting to, and it should give you a drop-down menue of the communities you joined,
