Death, reversed
The promise inherent in the death card, that state of transition and change, is lost when the card is reversed. Instead, it brings in a feeling of permanence, of solidifying, of possible stagnation.
You may be trying to resist change - or you may be digging in your heels and allowing yourself the stubborn comfort of remaining in the spot where you feel comfortable and secure. Don't try to stay too long, though - this card always indicates motion on the emotional or spiritual plane, and you can wear yourself out delaying what you will have to face in the end anyway.
Watch out for inertia, lethargy, and depression.
But remember this can also indicate leaving a record, written or otherwise, a history - that will endure.
(This fossil is a favorite image on mine. I think of it as the fallen angel of Berlin.)
